13h00 - Let’s Ride!

Today we’ll explore a loop around Siena, riding quiet roads and stretches of sterrato (dirt roads) that capture the essence of Tuscany.

The route starts with an easy warm-up, perfect for loosening the legs from the travel, before tackling the first climbs through golden fields and cypress-lined hills. The dirt sectors here are shorter and more technical, requiring attention on fast descents.

The highlight of the day is the coffee stop and free time in Siena, where we’ll enter through the same historic gate used by pros in the Strade Bianche. It’s a perfect chance to soak up some of the race atmosphere without the pressure of the peloton.

Tip: Save a few minutes to explore Siena on foot (leave your walking shoes at the support vehicle) — Piazza del Campo is a must-see and makes for stunning photos.

Afternoon/night - freetime

We depart from Borgo Antico, passing through the medieval atmosphere that marks the start of our journey. Soon we plunge into the heart of Tuscany: rolling vineyards, stately cypresses and villages that seem frozen in time.

Today’s route already delivers the region’s most authentic features — stretches of strade bianche that challenge both your legs and your bike-handling skills. Between each gravel sector we recover on quiet paved roads, always with postcard-worthy scenery.

With 105 km and nearly 1,700 m of climbing, the day requires a steady pace, but strategic stops for espresso and photos are inevitable. The grand finale brings us back to Borgo Antico, ready to toast our first victory over the Tuscan hills with a good Chianti.

Day 3 (FRI 06/03) > The Hidden Charm of the Tuscan Hills Distance:

Distance: 93 km | Elevation: 1,400 m | Time: 4h30

68% Paved > 32% Steratto - 3 Settore: Asciano W (9km), Asciano N (11km), Arbia (5km)

13h00 - Support Stop 02 at 70km

15h00 - Arrive at the Hotel

Afternoon/night - Pick up your race kit with our team at the reception

Today we leave Borgo Antico to explore a memorable route. With 93 km and just over 1,400 m of elevation, the ride invites you to pedal with attention to details — the small villages, stone churches, fields of sunflowers, and the rosemary-scented breeze from the hills.

The Strade Bianche and Eroica sections appear like unexpected chapters of the landscape: sometimes flat and fast, sometimes steep and demanding. Here, more than raw power, you need to find the right rhythm to let the bike flow over the gravel.

Between gentle climbs and long descents, we’ll pass stretches perfect for photos and, of course, a strategic stop at a local trattoria. It’s the kind of day that reminds us why Tuscany is so special — a perfect balance of effort, beauty, and flavor.

Day 4 (SAT 07/03) — Watching the Professional Strade Bianche

We’ll leave the hotel heading to a strategic point on the race route chosen to give us a great view of the riders in action — on an iconic climb in Le Tolfe of white gravel. We’ll have plenty of time to find a good spot, enjoy the hospitality during the whole day, and soak in the event atmosphere.

16h00 - Time limit, event finishes and we get together for a nice pic and the pasta party

18h00 - Arrive at the Hotel

21h00 - Farewell drinks and snacks at the hotel

The big day has arrived! The start is in Siena, in the electric atmosphere that only Strade Bianche can offer, with hundreds of riders lined up and ready to tackle the legendary sterrato sectors of Tuscany.

The route is demanding but incredibly beautiful: constant rollers, dirt-road sectors that test bike-handling, and fast stretches where the peloton stretches out. The short, steep climbs are worthy of a classic, and the views of rolling hills, vineyards, and historic villages are a show in themselves.

The most-awaited moment, however, is the finish: the final climb on narrow, steep pavement that leads to the Piazza del Campo, with burning legs and a racing heart. Crossing the finish line here is to feel part of cycling history.

Tip: stay well hydrated and keep a steady pace on the dirt sectors — it’s easy to get carried away early and pay for it later.

Day 6 (MON 09/03) > Check out and… arrivederci!

QUESTIONS?

  • The weather in Tuscany in March is typical of early spring, with mild temperatures ranging between 8-16ºC. It’s a transitional month, with days gradually becoming longer and sunnier, although there is still the possibility of light rain and occasional chill in the mornings and evenings. Layered clothing is recommended, and you should be prepared for temperature changes throughout the day.

  • For March in Tuscany, the ideal cycling kit should ensure comfort and protection against the typical spring weather fluctuations. A complete set is recommended, including:

    • Midweight base layer: to keep the body warm without overheating, helping regulate temperature while riding.

    • Bib shorts: essential for comfort on long distances, with good ventilation and chafe protection.

    • Cycling jersey: long-sleeve or short-sleeve plus arm warmers, preferably made of breathable, quick-drying fabric.

    • Sleeveless wind vest: to protect against wind, especially on exposed stretches or during descents.

    • Waterproof, breathable jacket: crucial for the start and end of the day, when temperatures can drop significantly and the chance of rain is higher.

Being prepared for rapid weather changes is crucial to ensure safety and performance while riding through the beautiful landscapes.

  • Yes, we have a partnership with TREK and offer the new Trek Madone with electronic shifting and carbon wheels for €70 per day.

  • Tuscany’s Strade Bianche routes are a true immersion in the region’s iconic landscapes, combining stretches of dirt roads (the famous “strade bianche”) with smooth paved sections. These routes offer a moderate technical challenge, ideal for riders seeking adventure and a close connection with nature, passing through rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and medieval villages.

The terrain is predominantly composed of white gravel, from which the name “strade bianche” derives, requiring extra care in bike handling—especially on descents and in corners—but rewarding riders with breathtaking views and an authentic Tuscan cycling experience. The elevation profile includes steady climbs that test endurance and flatter stretches that provide rest and open up unforgettable panoramas.

Paths are carefully selected to provide comfort and safety while preserving the adventurous feel typical of the region’s rural routes. In addition, AeroPorto Ciclismo’s support structure ensures you have all the assistance needed to enjoy every kilometer of these unique routes. Riding the Strade Bianche is experiencing Tuscany at its core, combining sport, culture and tradition.
